Harold James Heselton

Harold James Heselton, age 73, of Peabody, formerly of Reading, Andover, North Reading and Wakefield passed away peacefully on Friday, May 5, 2023, at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Harold was predeceased by his parents Edith Viola (Dame) Heselton Gallant and Frederick Wakefield Heselton of North Reading; his sister Edith Nancy Heselton of Hudson, NH and brother Frederick Heselton of Amesbury; and his mother-in-law Barbara T. (MacDonald) Barrett and father in-law George R. Barrett of North Reading.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Barbara Ann (Barrett) Heselton of Peabody; his brother Albert Heselton and wife Kay of Brooksville, FL; sisters Rita Melanson of Weeki Wachee, FL and Brenda Fast of Brooksville, FL; his children Keith Heselton of Manchester, CT and Matthew Heselton and wife Andrea Cutone of Reading; his grandchildren Zachary Heselton and Abigail Heselton of Auburn; as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He was also deeply loved by his faithful canine companion.

Harold graduated from North Reading High School in 1968. Later that same year, he joined the Army National Guard, reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant.  He trained as a mechanic and served as a cook during his time in the service. During his military service, Harold pursued a career as a butcher. He was employed for just under 40 years by the Atlantic Food Mart in North Reading and Reading, where he was highly regarded by colleagues and customers alike.

Harry was a man of many interests and enjoyed a variety of activities, including reading mysteries, fantasy, sci-fi, and crime drama. He was a big fan of “Spenser: For Hire.” In addition to his love of reading, Harry also enjoyed gardening, cooking, listening to music, especially oldies and going for walks. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Patriots and Red Sox. He also never missed the annual Army/Navy game.

Harry cherished spending time with his wife, kids, extended family, friends, and his beloved dog. He and his wife would often be seen sharing lunch at the Last Corner Restaurant in Reading. While Harry was brought up Baptist, he raised his children Catholic, attended Mass, and had plans to officially join the Catholic Church. Although Harry was known for being a man of few words, he always had a warm smile and was friendly to everyone he met.

A funeral Mass for Harold will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, May 20 at Christ The King Parish (St. Agnes Church, 186 Woburn St. in Reading). Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 19 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow St., North Reading, MA 01864. Interment will follow the funeral Mass at Wood End Cemetery in Reading. Shirley A. Capillo

Shirley A. (McArdle) Capillo – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Shirley, who passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on May 11, 2023.

Throughout her life Shirley dedicated herself to her family, bringing them together with her delicious cooking and warm hospitality.  Her kitchen was always filled with the aroma of her famous dishes and sweets, and she took great pride in cooking for her large family, no matter how big the gathering was. Everyone was welcome, except of course during her beloved story General Hospital.

Shirley also had a passion for knitting and crocheting, creating beautiful blankets, hats, and mittens for her loved ones.  She would often sit for hours on end, her hands moving quickly and expertly as she finished one project after another.  In addition to her love for cooking and crafting, Shirley was also an avid bingo player. She looked forward to her weekly games and would often come home with a big smile on her face after a successful night of bingo.

Shirley was predeceased by her loving husband of 67 years, Robert R. Capillo.  Family members include her son Michael Capillo and wife Donna; daughters, Maureen Turner and husband Jeff, Eileen Perron and husband Roddy, Julie Bornstein and husband David and the late Roberta Entwistle; grandchildren, Crystal Richardson and husband Michael, Joseph Entwistle, Anthony Capillo and fiancé Brooke, Ashley Capillo, Rebecca Kukish and husband Andrew, Jillian Turner and husband Mike, William and Rachel Bornstein, Colton and Rudy Perron; great grandchildren, Claire and Andrew Richardson. She was the sister of the late John, Andrew and Donald McArdle, Elizabeth Culkeen, Helen Murphy, Gail McArdle and Doreen Smalley.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 16th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Her Funeral will be on Wednesday, May 17th at 10:30 AM at the Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow Street, North Reading.  She will be laid to rest with her late husband at Riverside Cemetery directly following the funeral.

Kathleen M. Lane

Kathleen  M.  Lane – 76, of Jacksonville, Florida and formerly of Saugus, passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2023, after a lengthy illness.

Born in Everett, MA on May 12, 1946, she was the daughter of the late John C. and Bessie (Wood) Lane. She was a graduate of Saugus High School and Florida Community College of Jacksonville.

Kathleen was a retired travel agent and has been a resident of Jacksonville, Florida for over twenty five years.

She enjoyed listening to Classical Music, gardening and volunteering at the Green Houses at Brooks in Jacksonville, Florida.

Family members include her loving daughters, Andrea Dion and Joanne Dorgan and her husband Kevin Dorgan; sisters, Joan Jacobs, Lorraine, Cynthia and Elizabeth Lane; grandchildren, Ashley and Emma Dorgan.

Michael D. Prince, Sr.

Michael D. Prince, Sr. – 56, of Rollinsford, NH and formerly of North Reading, died unexpectedly in North Carolina on March 31, 2023.

Born in Melrose, MA on October 21, 1966. He was the son of John D. Prince and the late Elaine (Webster) Prince.

He was one of a kind, with a big heart and an open mind for everyone to share, he was a master craftsman in the art of conversation and could talk to anyone about anything and you would never feel judged, insecure or alone, he loved everyone.

He was always the first to lend a helping hand or to make you smile or laugh, because he never wanted anyone to struggle. He was a beacon of light in a sea of dark and you could always count on him to be positive and help you through whatever you needed. He loves and was loved and will sorely missed by so many.

Michael loved music, whether it be singing along word for word or changing the lyrics to something funny to get a laugh out of you, he loved fishing and playing golf or anything competitive especially horseshoes, he also loved drawing and making art later in life that he had a natural talent for.

Besides his father John D. Prince, family members include his sons, Joseph Prince and Michael D. Prince, Jr.; his daughter, Jessica Prince; brothers, Joseph Pires, William and Phillip Prince, Christopher Bourdon and John prince; his sister, Leslie Sweeney.

Visitation will be held at the Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow Street, North Reading on Friday, April 14 from 5:00 to 7:30 PM, followed by brief service. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in his memory to the charity of one’s choice.
