Angela Marshall-Wantman

Angela (DeCola) Marshall-Wantman- 69, of North Reading and formerly of Medford, died Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at Winchester Hospital after a brief battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family. Born in Boston, MA on July 4, 1950, she was the daughter of Nicholas A. DeCola, Sr. and the late Anna L. (Tarallo) DeCola. Angela has been a resident of North Reading for the past 47 years and she attended St. Theresa’s Church.

Family members include her loving husband of 41 years, James B. Wantman; her children, James R. Marshall and his wife Kasia, Jennifer A. Marshall and her husband Deva Parkin, Trina M. Wantman and Tyler J. Wantman; her brothers, James DeCola and his wife Catherine, and the late Nicholas A. DeCola, Jr and his surviving wife Elaine; her brother-in-law, Mark Wantman; and grandchildren, Maya and Nicholas Marshall.

A 1968 graduate of Arlington Catholic High School, Angela’s past employment included New England Life Insurance Company in Boston, Zayre’s and Pioneer Bank in North Reading, and dog sitting out of her home.

Angela loved everything about nature especially spending time at the ocean including Rockport, Halibut Point and Ogunquit, being surrounded by trees, and watching wildlife in her yard. Her favorite companions were dogs and she is happy to be reunited with Ginger, Sandy, Lucky and Snoopy, all her former furry clients and her turtle Stoney. She enjoyed the simple things in life such as holding and reading a hardcover book, watching Hallmark movies, eating Italian food, and drinking a hot cup of tea.  Angela was a kind, thoughtful, generous, and authentic person.  Above all, the most important thing in her life was her children.

Funeral services will be private and there will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in her memory to the MSPCA (400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844), her favorite cause of caring for and supporting animals.

  1. Angela’s passion for life and family was her drive. When she talked about her family she glowed with pride. Her trips with Jim, Jimmy and her grandchildren, Jen and her independence and love of nature, Trina and her adventures and Tyler’s love of rock climbing.
She was an amazing friend calling and checking in making sure all was good. Being there when you needed support. She was well loved and will be missed by many.

  2. I am so sorry for loss. I hadn’t seen Angela until we had the big family reunion. Talking with her was so easy. You would have never guessed we were apart for decades.
I always loved hanging around with her when I was young. She was the cool, older cousin. It’s sadly shocking that she is gone. I truly believe Angela is Home with our Lord now and will be reunited with her loved ones. She will be there, ready to welcome us when the Lord calls us Home.

  3. Sending love and prayers to Angela’s family. Was so happy see her at our last family reunion. She was always my sweet little cousin and never changed. Love cousin Nina

  4. Angela will be so missed by so many. I’m glad to have many memories of car trips as a kid and 4th of July cookouts.., that all feature Angela so smiling and warm. My mom will so miss her friendship. I will miss her sweet holiday notes and surprise gifts for the kids. Jim, Jimmy, Jen, Trina, and Tyler please know you are in my heart and prayers at this tough time. Xo

  5. I am very sad for all who knew and loved Angela, especially her family. My deepest sympathy to Jim, Jimmy, Jen, Trina and Tyler. Peace and love to you all.

  6. Angela was and will always be my cousin, my best friend and sister. Our memories of happy times will keep her alive in our hearts forever ❤️

  7. Jim, Trina and family, I am so sad to hear about your loving wife and mother’s passing. I had not seen Angela in years but fondly remember when she would bring Trina to dance lessons at my studio. Her smile and kind nature will always be remembered. My thoughts and prayers go out to your family during this very sad time.

  8. We are so sorry to learn of Angela’s passing. We had not realized she was even sick in spite of seeing her husband, Jim, at our mailbox daily this past month. They were so close and happy as they raised all the children. God bless you Jim, along with your family, as Angela will live on in your memories.
